John Kearney has over 20 years of Hotel Sales and General Hotel Management experience working for both Independent 4 & 5* Hotels & Resorts as well as with Intercontinental (IHG) and Radisson SAS for Hotels based in London as well as across Spain.

To illustrate how I help hoteliers, I would like to share an example on how I took a hotel that had launched at the height of the financial crisis from 2% occupancy to 54% in the space of 3 years while increasing RevPar by 18€.
The resort is 30 mins from Alicante airport, has 120 rooms and is located within a golf course of the same name. During my 5 years there, my initiatives grew revenue from €72k to €2.9M by implementing the following simple strategies:
An intense period of contracting (Golf Agents/Leisure Agents/MICE/otas)
Optimization of Segments to improve Direct Business levels & RevPar
Implement Upselling & Cross-Selling strategy to improve incremental revenues
Design & introduce a Digital Marketing plan to improve online visibility & direct revenues.
Implement the strategy of improving guest data capture.
I was able to achieve spectacular growth in occupancy, RevPar and overall revenue simultaneously whilst not being overly dependent on any particular channel.
Whilst OTA´s can deliver bookings on demand, they come at a price. That’s why I decided to invest time in improving the hotel’s online presence and distribution technology. It is important to regularly review online technology as it changes fast. For example, changing a booking engine that was best of breed 2 years prior, yield a 300% increase in direct online bookings year on year.
The problem is, that it can be a challenge to stay abreast of what works best in the online marketing space. My mission is to help hoteliers make better marketing decisions. based on the latest best practices and technical solutions.
